Scan and fix your operating system with this LiveCD.
When a
virus really affects our operating system, it can actually leave it totally unusable. This means, that Windows isn't even loaded because the virus has damaged something that was essential for the operating system to work. In these cases, the only options that we have left are to format or use a
rescue CD like
AVG Rescue CD.
This complete rescue CD includes, as well as a powerful antivirus by the developer, quite a few utilities, among which the ones that worth highlighting are:
Midnight Comander, a multiwindow file manager that is similar to Explorer;
Windows Registry Editor, to edit any Windows Registry entry that we deem suspicious; and
TestDisk, to check that the hard drive is working properly, as well as a pack of utilities to fix the system that have been extracted directly from Linux.
The
AVG Rescue CD is in reality a Linux distribution that has been specially adapted to be able to start the
AVG scanner and the necessary tools to search for any virus or configuration problem on a Windows computer. To do so, it is necessary burn the
ISO on a CD and start the computer from the CD/DVD drive to launch the
LiveCD.
Requirements: It is necessary to have a burner to burn the CD as well as a computer that can start from the CD/DVD drive.
